What are OSCAR Appliances

The OSCAR Canada Users Society have produced a list of hardware appliances that have OSCAR pre-

installed. So for users who are already familiar with OSCAR and want to purchase something "off the shelf" this is an inexpensive way to go. A standard OSCARA will include the following Open Source software pre-installed:

ubuntu server - typically the latest version (currently 7.10)

tomcat

MySQL

OSCAR built from the latest stable release of the CVS source code on SourceForge

drugref with its python code and PostgreSQL database containing the most recent update of the Health Canada drug tables

miscellaneous backup and error report scripts

These appliances come with standard hardware warranty support as provided by the equipment manufacturer and limited email support up to 3 months for software. Users who are not technically inclined should make sure they have vendor support for installation, training, and regular maintenance support.
